Those who freed us from terrorism are those who now terrorise us?

This is Sri Lanka
Watched the football recently. Liverpool was playing. The commentators were talking about the sign that reads over the entrance to the Liverpool football field, ‘This is Anfield’. My immediate thought was wow that will work well for Sri Lanka. Especially as the Liverpool of today’s not quite what they used to be, earlier yes, the opposition would respect this statement, now just sixth in the premier league, coming to Liverpool to play does not command fear. But the football tradition is rich in Liverpool, and Anfield does create awe. The statement befits Sri Lanka. Be in awe, but mainly have fear.
This is Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka should have this statement over all their ports of entry, entry to parliament and all other government entities.  For years we have made our own laws. Our own definition of democracy and the electoral process. Please note I have not come to praise Mahinda Rajapaksa, but nor have I come to stick a knife in his gut. Nor any of his esteemed family members.
For corruption is nothing new when it comes to how Sri Lanka is governed.
This is Sri Lanka
Where a popular journalist amongst the many is killed in broad daylight. Years on, no clue to who the killers were.
White vans visiting peoples homes and abducting them. Many are never heard of again, some found murdered.
Burnt corpses recovered from road, Police finds nothing.
Any Police person can be bribed.
99% of the people in Sri Lanka’s public sector will willingly take a bribe.
Especially those who work in critical services such as Police, Emergency and Public Hospitals.
A leading politician openly is a thug. He and his son carry on their thuggery and violence in impunity. No action will be taken against them.
Two politicians had a shoot out in view of the public. One is dead and the other in Singapore for treatment as he was shot in the head.
These are some daily and common occurrences I identify with Sri Lanka. Yes we won against terrorism, but the terrorism practised on its people is so glaring obvious that they cannot be denied. Screw the UN and the US, nothing will and can change. Add any glaring dictatorial and acts of terror taken by the government of Sri Lanka, as you like.
That they have no knowledge of it is to admit that then they have no control over what goes on in the country. Their silence if not acceptance, is participation, even worse, responsibility of ownership and authorship.
This is Sri Lanka
Where finally as the public we have to trust the process of democracy and the politicians we vote to act on our behalf. With that these very politicians must practise: dignity, common sense, and above all compassion and forgiveness.
I will still worship the feet of Mahinda Rajapakse for making Sri Lanka sovereign. But now I will do so in trepidation that he will kick me while I kneel.
‘When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an un-pitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.’ Edmund Burke.

I never thought that after the hostilities ended, life would be worse than when they were going on.

I explain that by saying, the country was busy fighting the LTTE as that was the main aim.

Now they are persecuting their own people who disagree with the way they govern, and one of them is me. So I fear for my life daily as I am not ashamed to call a spade a spade, and call the rulers traitors.

When actions are taken to rob the country of what it has not matter who does it he or she is a traitor. There has been no greater daulight robbery in the history of this country, not even the British stole so much as being stolen today by the so called defenders of the country.

It is a shame that people do not care, and as the example set from the top is bad good men also become bad preferring to follow the leader in setting a bad example, and continuing this disasterous journey
